Injuries Reported in Big Rig Collision in Rancho Cordova
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (February 1, 2019) – On Friday night, three people were injured in a Target semi-truck accident on Highway 50. The identities of the victims have not yet been released to the public.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:00 PM near Mather Field Road.
As per reports, a Target big rig and a pick up truck were involved in the collision. The semi-truck hit the center median and jackknifed across all four lanes. At this time, the cause of the accident is currently unknown.
Sacramento Metro Fire District arrived at the scene and stated two people suffered injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. One occupant who also sustained injuries declined to be transported. Their current medical condition is unclear at this time.
Authorities stated all lanes on the highway were closed in each direction for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
