3 Hurt in Bellevue Car Collision
BELLEVUE, WA (March 4, 2020) – Three people sustained injuries in a rollover school bus collision on 154th Place on March 2.
According to the police, two Bellevue Public Schools children and a bus driver sustained injuries after the brakes gave out and the bus overturned down a hill.
The three people were the only occupants of the bus.
Responders then took them to a local hospital as a precaution, revealed Bellevue police spokeswoman Meeghan Black.
Around 3:15 p.m., police and fire officials arrived to the 4700 block of 154th Place Southeast.
According to Black, the driver was traveling on a regular bus route and had stopped to drop a child off at the top of the hill.
At this point the brakes failed.
As the bus went down the hill, it struck a vehicle and a tree, which incidentally stopped it from ramming through a home. There were occupants in the house, but no one sustained any injury.
“It came down a pretty steep hill,” she added. “It slammed into a gray Volvo and blew through someone’s yard. Had the tree not been there, there would have been a lot more damage.”
Black said that the bus went down around 300 feet down the hill before crashing into the curb and overturning into the yard.
“They’re just really fortunate,” Black said.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
