1 Hospitalized after Car Accident at Menlo Avenue

HEMET, CA (December 3, 2018) – On Friday afternoon, three people were injured in a rollover collision on Girard Street. The identities of the victims were not immediately released to the public.

According to reports, the collision took place around 3:15 PM near Menlo Avenue. After receiving reports of an accident in the area, City of Hemet Police and Fire Department and other emergency personnel arrived on site.

The vehicles involved were identified as a Ford F150 pickup truck with heavy front-end damage and an overturned Toyota Tundra. First responders stated that a man was trapped inside the overturned truck and was bleeding heavily due to a head injury.

Paramedics were able to safely free the injured driver from his overturned vehicle. Both drivers received treatment at the scene and the Toyota driver was transported to the Hemet Valley Hospital for further evaluation. There is no update on his current medical condition.

As per witness statements, the Toyota was driving north on Girard approaching the stop sign at Menlo, as the Ford was traveling east on Menlo and had the right of way. For unknown reasons, the Toyota tried to drive across Menlo, directly in front of the path of the oncoming Ford. As a result, the Ford broadsided the driver’s side of the pickup, causing it to roll over on its roof and pinning the driver inside. Both vehicles had to be towed from the crash site.

The crash remains under investigation at this time and anyone with further details is urged to contact Hemet PD at (951) 765-2400. Information will be released, once it becomes available.
