3 People Hurt in Los Angeles Auto Accident on Eight Street and Figueroa Street
LOS ANGELES, CA (May 20, 2024) – Early Sunday, a startling pursuit crash on Eight Street and Figueroa Street injured an officer.
The incident began at around 3:30 a.m. at Oceanwide Plaza, near 12th and Figueroa streets. Then, the suspect got into the police SUV and drove away.
Reports said that a female officer was involved in an incident with a suspect who stole a patrol vehicle. It remains unclear whether she was pushed out of or holding onto the SUV while trying to stop the suspect. She was dragged by the moving vehicle and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was chased by other officers and crashed the stolen patrol unit at the intersection of Eighth and Figueroa streets. After the collision, the suspect continued northbound on Figueroa Street until the vehicle came to rest at Seventh and Figueroa. The suspect then attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended.
Two civilians were injured in the crash. Both they and the injured officer were transported to a hospital for treatment.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
