3 Injured in 3-Vehicle Crash on RD 5 NW [Quincy, WA]

3 People Hospitalized After Crash on RD 5 NW in Quincy

Quincy, WA (October 17, 2024) – A three-vehicle crash on RD 5 NW near RD T NW left one driver with serious injuries and two others with minor injuries early Wednesday. 

The crash occurred when Felipe Maldonado, 56, of East Wenatchee, was driving eastbound in a 2005 Toyota Camry on RD 5 NW. 

Maldonado failed to navigate a right-hand curve, crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with a westbound 2020 Toyota Tundra driven by Arnoldo Hernandez, 31, of Quincy, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

After the initial collision, a third vehicle, a westbound 2023 Toyota Camry driven by Sarai Gutierrez, 26, of Beverly, struck the passenger side of Hernandez’s Tundra, causing considerable front-end damage to her car.

Following the crash, Maldonado’s vehicle veered off the road and ended up in a ditch on the north side of RD 5 NW, facing northeast. 

Hernandez’s Tundra blocked the eastbound lane, and Gutierrez’s Camry came to rest behind it, also facing west and blocking the same lane.

Maldonado was taken by ambulance to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for treatment, while Hernandez and Gutierrez were transported to Quincy Valley Hospital with minor injuries. 

Tow Pros, Quincy Towing, and T&J Services were called to clear the damaged vehicles from the scene. 

Authorities stated that neither speed nor alcohol were contributing factors in the crash, and all drivers were wearing seatbelts. 

Maldonado is expected to receive a Notice of Infraction for crossing the centerline, which led to the collision.
