Three Hurt after Valley Center Head-On Accident on Highway 76
VALLEY CENTER, CA (October 22, 2019) — Three people sustained injuries following a head-on crash on Highway 76 on Monday, October 21.
The accident happened just before 4 p.m. when the driver of a westbound Volkswagen Tiguan came upon slow-moving traffic near Couser Canyon Road. The driver then swerved to his left to avoid colliding into it, California Highway Patrol stated.
Entering an eastbound lane, the vehicle crashed with an oncoming Chrysler 300.
Paramedics rushed the driver of the Volkswagen, a 38-year-old Oceanside resident, to Palomar Medical Center for further treatment. They also transported the other motorist, a 69-year- old Van Nuys man, and that driver’s 85-year-old female passenger. All three had different complaints of pain, Latulippe stated.
The incident blocked the traffic lanes in the area for around 45 minutes.
Avoid serious head-on collisions by driving only when you are alert and sober. Avoid, whenever possible, driving in challenging weather or road conditions. And always scan the road ahead for hazards.
