Injuries Reported in San Diego Accident on Interstate 805 and State Route 52

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (November 7, 2022) – Early Sunday, three people suffered injuries in a DUI crash on Interstate 805 and State Route 52.
 
The incident happened at about 5:00 a.m. on Interstate 805 and State Route 52 near University City and Clairemont.
 
According to reports, a suspected drunken driver headed south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 805.
 
Thus, several people reported the wrong-way vehicle to 911 before it struck the center divider and down an embankment. This crash happened near the transition between the 805 and SR-52. After the crash, the car overturned in a westbound lane of State Route 52.
 
Meanwhile, the crash trapped the driver and his two passengers in the car until firefighters freed them.
 
Afterward, paramedics took all three to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla for treatment of minor to moderate injuries.
 
Eventually, CHP officers later arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
 
Officers revealed that the wrong-way vehicle did not strike any other vehicles heading in the opposite direction. However, the debris from the crashes involving the DUI suspect’s car led to several minor secondary crashes. Also, the incident didn’t lead to any other injuries.
 
Also, officers found a can of alcoholic seltzer in the wreckage of the crash along with hundreds of prop $100 bills with “Motion Picture Purposes” printed on them.
 
At this time, the authorities haven’t disclosed any information about why the fake cash was in the car.
