Long Beach Police Officer and 2 Others Hospitalized after Crash near 16th Street
LONG BEACH, CA (January 31, 2019) – Three people were injured Thursday evening following a two-vehicle crash on Long Beach Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near 16th Street, at about 8:00 PM. Due to unknown circumstances, a Toyota Camry collided with a marked police vehicle. The impact of the crash caused the Camry to hit a bicyclist who was waiting at the traffic signal.
The police officer and the bicyclist were treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital. Meanwhile, the driver of the Camry was held for observation.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and to identify possible contributing factors. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to cooperate with investigators as soon as possible. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
