Injuries Reported in Calimesa Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 10 and Sandalwood Drive

CALIMESA, CA (July 3, 2024) – Tuesday afternoon, 3 people were hurt in a startling 4-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 and Sandalwood Drive.

The incident happened at around 12:30 p.m. on Interstate 10, west of the Sandalwood Drive exit ramp from I-10.

Reports said that the driver of a red pickup hit four vehicles at an unconfirmed speed. Then, it accelerated away in the direction of Palm Springs.

The Riverside County Fire Department reported that occupants of two sedans and a van sustained injuries following the crash. While two individuals suffered minor injuries, a third person sustained major injuries. 

All injured parties were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, though their identities have not been disclosed.

As a result of the collision, two freeway lanes were obstructed, causing significant traffic delays in the eastbound lanes through the San Gorgonio Pass. 

No information regarding the license plate of the involved pickup truck has been provided.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
