3 Hospitalized in DUI Crash on Interstate 5 [Seattle, WA]

Driver Arrested in I-5 DUI Collision

Seattle, WA (January 5, 2024) – Three people were hospitalized in a DUI Crash on Interstate 5 Thursday morning.

The authorities received the traffic accident report before 12:30 a.m. north of Columbian Way.

Investigating officers said a 27-year-old woman was southbound in the northbound lanes of the freeway and struck a vehicle head-on.

Both of the vehicles rested on the fifth lane of the freeway.

The driver and passenger in the northbound vehicle were transported to the hospital in unknown condition.

The alleged driver at fault was taken to the hospital. Officers said she is facing charges of vehicular assault and potentially driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Let’s Keep The Road Safe

Driving your children to school, driving to the market, or driving to fill up on gas should not be a life-and-death matter. Even so, the likelihood of car accidents continues to rise.

Furthermore, it is important to follow all driving laws and road conditions. If you see any vehicle or driver that looks dangerous, keep your distance. If you see a vehicle weaving in and out of the lanes, following too closely, or traveling at a higher rate of speed, move over a few lanes and get out of their way.

Ultimately, drive defensively to ensure the safety of surrounding vehicles, drivers, and pedestrians.

Traffic Crash on Interstate 5 Under Investigation

Regardless of the location, the road accident rate continues to increase rather than decrease.

CHP issued 2,021 citations in April 2021 for those driving over 100 miles per hour.

The increasing crash rate reflects that auto accidents like the DUI crash on Interstate 5 are a major public health threat. Indeed, they are a leading cause of death for individuals ages 5-64.

According to the NHTSA, two out of three motorists will be involved in an injury accident during their lives. That is why knowing what to do if you get involved in a traffic crash is crucial.
