3 Injured in Oxnard Car Collision on Gonzales Road
OXNARD, CA (August 28, 2019) – Three people sustained injuries in a car collision on Gonzales Road on August 25.
The collision involving a dune buggy and a van occurred after 1:00 p.m. Authorities revealed that an 18-year-old Oxnard male resident drove a 2005 Dodge Caravan east on Gonzales Road.
Meanwhile, a 42-year-old Oxnard woman drove a specially constructed Volkswagen dune buggy driven north on Patterson Road.
The vehicles broad-sided as they enter the intersection. As of now, it’s still unknown whether which vehicle had the right of way. It is also possible that one of the vehicles ran a red light.
The impact partially threw the woman off the dune buggy. Responders transported her to Ventura County Medical Center in critical condition. Furthermore, a 40-year-old Oxnard male resident occupying the dune buggy also went to the hospital with moderate injuries.
Responders transported the Caravan driver to the hospital with moderate injuries as well.
As a result of the crash, the Gonzales Road and Patterson Road shut down for hours. After 5:00 p.m., the intersection finally reopened.
Authorities ruled out speed, drugs or alcohol as factors in the collision. They are urging anyone with information to call Traffic Officer Jose Diaz at 805-385-7750 or [email protected].
