29-Year-Old Motorcyclist Injured in Collision on Market Street [San Diego, CA]

San Diego, CA (June 21, 2022) – On Monday, a 29-year-old male motorcyclist sustained injuries in a collision on Market Street.

The traffic incident took place few minutes before 5 p.m. in downtown San Diego’s East Village neighborhood.

Officers say a 42-year-old male driver ran the red light at 13th Street.

At the same time, the rider in a Triumph motorcycle was southbound on 13th Street. The motorcyclist crossed the intersection on a green light when the truck struck him.

Right away, the paramedics transported him to a hospital with a ruptured spleen. He also incurred open fractures to the two bones in his lower left leg and a fracture to his left foot. 

Meanwhile, officers are investigating the collision. They do not consider alcohol as a factor in San Diego motorcycle crash.

Inspect your vehicle’s headlights and turn signals. Be sure that both front and rear headlamps are working properly and visible enough a couple of yards away.
