GRANADA HILLS, CA (December 11, 2018) – A man sustained fatal injuries after his vehicle overturned multiple times on Sunday, December 9.
California Highway Patrol said that a 29-year-old Canyon Country man only identified as Garcia was traveling in a 1996 Nissan pickup truck on the southbound 5 Freeway transition to the 405 Freeway around midnight.
Garcia for unknown reasons made a dangerous turn, according to CHP, and the Nissan ended up on the dirt embankment on the left side of the roadway. Investigators stated that the vehicle rolled over several times, and Garcia was thrown out of his car.
Crews arrived at the area at about 12:35 a.m. and rushed the man to the Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he died shortly before 2 a.m.
CHP said that officials temporarily closed all lanes of the southbound 5 transition into the 405 and reopened them at approximately 5:30 a.m.
Investigators are still determining whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved in the collision.
