Fatal DUI Crash on West Mission Road
San Marcos, CA (March 25, 2022) – On Wednesday, at around 8 p.m., a 26-year-old man sustained fatal injuries in a bicycle crash on West Mission Road.
The authorities immediately responded to the crash scene and learned that a 63-year-old man driving an ice cream truck struck the bicyclist while turning onto West Mission Road from Pico Avenue.
Unfortunately, the man riding his bicycle died at the crash scene, while the man driving the truck did not suffer injuries from the collision.
“According to witnesses on the scene, the Ford was turning with a green light and the bicyclist was traveling southwest across the intersection against a red light,” Deputy Juan Soto-Rodriguez said.
Moreover, the authorities also said that alcohol is believed to be a factor in this fatal incident. They also added that the bicycle rider was not wearing a helmet during the crash..
Meanwhile, the authorities did not arrest anyone as they are still investigating the incident.
