1 Dead in Alpine Pedestrian Accident on 8 Freeway
ALPINE, CA (February 13, 2020) – A 24-year-old man died in a pedestrian accident on the 8 Freeway on February 13 in Alpine.
According to reports, a car struck the 24-year-old while he was standing near the side of his pickup.
The authorities received a report of the accident at about 1:30 p.m. on the westbound 8 Freeway near West Willows Road exit.
A 70-year-old Lemon Grove man drove a Lincoln MKZ sedan in the far right lane when he let the car to steer to the right, then hit the pickup and the victim who stood on the right shoulder of the truck.
The identity of the victim remains unreleased due to pending family notification. Responders flew him to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he later died.
Meanwhile, the driver stayed at the scene with investigators. The authorities also ruled out intoxication as a factor in the pedestrian accident on the 8 Freeway.
