DUI Driver Arrested after Fatal Car Crash near Brightwater Drive
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (September 13, 2018) – A man was killed early Thursday evening following a DUI crash on Warner Avenue. The identity of the 24-year-old victim was not immediately released by officials.
According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, the incident took place at about 6:45 PM near Brightwater Drive. A 2005 Nissan Sentra was heading west on Warner when it lost control and struck a westbound 2002 Honda Odyssey.
A 24-year-old man inside the Odyssey sustained fatal injuries after he was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, the 65-year-old woman driving the Odyssey was hospitalized with minor injuries. The 31-year-old Nissan driver was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and to identify possible contributing factors.
