Male Passenger Killed, Others Injured in Crash in Barstow

Barstow, CA (October 15, 2021) – On Thursday, a 24-year-old male passenger suffered fatal injuries in a semi-truck crash on Interstate 15.

The CHP officers responded to the crash scene at 5:13 a.m. to the freeway’s northbound lanes, north of Field Road.

Officers said three males were in a 2022 Kia when the accident happened. The driver tried to pass a Freightliner by driving on the right-hand shoulder.

Indeed, the Kia driver intended to pass the semi-truck through the right-hand shoulder of the road. However, there was a parked semi-truck in its path still. 

The car rear-ended the parked semi-truck. The now deceased victim was thrown out of the back window and onto the lane where the semi-truck the vehicle attempted to pass was driving.

Ultimately, the semi-truck struck the man.

The authorities pronounced him dead at the scene, shortly before 6 a.m.

Meanwhile, the paramedics took the Kia’s driver and front passenger to Barstow Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The officers are still investigating this fatal accident. They said they do not consider alcohol and drugs as contributing factors in the crash.
