23-Year-Old Passenger Injured in Yakima Airport Fatal Collision [Yakima, WA]

Yakima, WA (May 21, 2022) On Friday, police reported a fatal collision after a vehicle crashed into the Yakima Airport terminal control tower.

According to the Yakima Police, a 19-year-old man was driving the vehicle that crashed into the tower.

Additionally, a 23-year-old passenger was in the car during the collision.

Police say that the vehicle was traveling at high speed. Consequently, the car went off the road and ran through power boxes, and collided with the tower.

Paramedics say that both occupants sustained serious injuries. The driver succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, while the passenger is in critical condition.

The crash caused havoc to the control tower, the terminal was forced to cancel some flights.

Authorities are investigating the incident and believed that the driver was driving impaired at the time of the collision.
