1 Dead in San Jose Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 101
SAN JOSE, CA (February 4, 2020) – A 22-year-old Morgan Hill man died in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 101 on February 2.
The incident happened around 12:42 a.m., on northbound Highway 101. The driver of a 2010 Hyundai Accent traveled at a high speed when he crashed into the rear of a 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander.
Then, the Accent spun and was struck on the right side by a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia big rig. As a result, the sedan then rolled over and caught fire.
Furthermore, the Hyundai driver was ejected from the vehicle upon impact. Then, a 2012 Mazda 3 struck the Hyundai driver, causing fatal injuries. The authorities are currently investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the multi-vehicle crash.
The surrounding area on Highway 101 was closed for a brief time. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
