Driver Dies after Car Crashes on West Main Street in Turlock
TURLOCK, CA (November 10, 2019) – A 22-year-old man was killed following a DUI crash early Sunday morning in downtown Turlock.
The fatal crash happened around 12:15 a.m. near the intersection of West Main Street and West Avenue South.
According to investigators, the man was driving a sedan at a high rate of speed. As he approached the intersection, the car struck a concrete island and the driver lost control.
The car then careened into a telephone pole, knocking it down. It continued moving before it slammed into a concrete wall and overturned.
As a result, the driver was partially ejected and died at the scene. He was the only occupant in the car. Police did not release his name pending notification of his family members.
Investigators said they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
