22-Year-Old Anahi Rivera Chavez Dies in Multi-Vehicle Crash on McCormick Road [Yakima, WA]

Anahi Rivera Chavez Killed, Carlos Sanchez Martinez Injured in McCormick Road Crash

Yakima, WA (October 16, 2021) – On Friday,  22-year-old Anahi Rivera Chavez lost her life, while 22-year-old Carlos Sanchez Martinez suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on McCormick Road.

The fatal crash took place at about in the morning at Highway 12.

Investigating officers said 59-year-old Cary Henning was southbound on McCormick Road, while Martinez along with Chavez, was westbound on Highway 12 at McCormick Rd.

At the same time, 42-year-old Sannon Vanepps was eastbound on Highway 12 at McCormick Rd.

Officers said that Henning failed to yield the right of way and struck the vehicle driven by Martinez. Then, Vanepps struck a tire in the roadway that came from Martinez’s car.

Immediately, responding rescuers rushed Martinez and Chavez to Yakima Memorial.

Unfortunately, Chavez succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

On the other hand, Martinez is currently being treated for his injuries.
