20-Year-Old Female Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash on North Second Street [El Cajon, CA]

El Cajon, CA (July 28, 2022) – On Wednesday, a 20-year-old female pedestrian sustained fatal injuries in a hit-and-run crash on North Second Street.

The fatal accident took place at around 8:50 p.m. near the Interstate 8 on-ramp.

Officers say they found the woman lying on the street and rushed her to a hospital where she died.

According to the investigators, the victim was standing near the crosswalk when the driver of a northbound silver Hyundai Sonata drove onto the sidewalk and struck her.

Then, the 22-year-old driver continued northbound and collided with a traffic signal light and a street sign. 

Afterward, the vehicle continued traveling a short distance and turned east onto Naranca Avenue.

Someone reported to 911 that the Sonata stopped in the middle of the road. The Hyundai had front-end damage with a traffic signal light hanging from the car.

Moreover, the authorities discovered that the driver was under the influence of a narcotic when the fatal accident took place. 

They booked him into the San Diego County Jail on multiple charges.

Officers withheld the deceased pedestrian’s identity pending notification of her next of kin.
