2 Women Injured After Car Rear Ends Big Rig in Mission Hills, LA
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 28, 2019) – Two women were critically injured Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle collision on 5 Freeway in the Mission Hills area.
Dispatchers received calls about the accident in the northbound lanes around 8:20 a.m. Officials identified the involved vehicles as a mid-sized sedan and a big rig. First responders arrived to the scene just north of San Fernando Mission Boulevard, soon after.
The Los Angeles Fire Department say the female driver of the sedan allegedly rear-ended the big rig for unknown reasons. Medics also located the wrecked vehicle stuck beneath the semi upon arrival.
Furthermore, two severely injured females were found inside the sedan. The two women, described as young adults, had to be extricated from the mangled car. This process took over 45 minutes for firefighters to complete. No cargo spilled from the big rig.
Moreover, the surrounding area was closed as crews worked to clean and finalize preliminary duties. No further information has been made available at this time. The investigation is currently ongoing to eventually determine further details.
