2 People Hospitalized After Crash on US 79 in Milam County

Milam County, TX (May 9, 2024) – Texas DPS reports that two people sustained severe injuries in a two-vehicle crash on US 79 caused by a driver attempting to pass in a no-passing zone. 

On May 7, Texas DPS officers arrived at a crash site on US 79 near CR 356 following reports of a major accident with injuries.

A 20-year-old man from Seguin, driving a 2006 Ford Focus northbound, and a 51-year-old woman from Rockdale, driving a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe southbound, were involved. 

The investigation revealed that the Ford Focus driver attempted to pass at the top of a hill in a no passing zone and collided with the Hyundai in the southbound lane, according to Texas DPS.

Both drivers suffered incapacitating injuries and were hospitalized. 

Authorities issued a citation to the Ford Focus driver for disregarding the no-passing zone and continue to investigate the crash.
