Rancho Cucamonga, CA (February 21, 2024) – On Tuesday morning, two people sustained injuries in a 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 15.

Reportedly, a semi-tractor-trailer crashed into the center median on southbound Interstate 15.

The incident happened on southbound I-15 just before Foothill Boulevard around 10:19am on February 20, 2024, prompting responses from the California Highway Patrol and firefighters from the Rancho Cucamonga City Fire Department.

Involved in the crash were a white Walmart semi tractor-trailer and a white Chevrolet pickup truck, with speculation that another driver’s actions might have led to the big rig driver losing control.

The semi hit the guard rail in the center divider and broke through it, while the pickup truck came to a halt in the #3 lane, showing significant front-end damage.

As the semi’s driver tried to exit the cab, he reportedly fell, sustaining minor injuries. The pickup truck’s driver also suffered minor injuries.

Following the crash, CHP and Caltrans reported a spill of 200 gallons of diesel fuel across multiple lanes, necessitating a hazardous material (HAZMAT) response.

The cleanup and removal of the semi led to the closure of multiple lanes, with Caltrans announcing the reopening of lanes at 3:45 pm.

The California Highway Patrol’s Rancho Cucamonga Office will investigate this incident.
