2 Person Hurt in Rancho Bernardo Car Accident
RANCHO BERNARDO, CA (February 21, 2019) – Two female teens sustained serious injuries in a collision involving a sedan and a pickup on February 19.
The crash occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Rancho Bernardo Road and Cresta Drive. The accident happened just east of Pomerado Road, San Diego police Officer John Buttle revealed.
According to Buttle, a 17-year-old boy was traveling a southbound 2007 Kia sedan on Cresta Drive. Afterwards, he stopped at a stop sign at Rancho Bernardo Road.
The driver of the sedan then drove south, pulling out in front of a 36-year-old man driving a 2001 Ford F-150. The Ford was eastbound on Rancho Bernardo Road at the time. Soon after, the pickup then hit the passenger side of the sedan.
As a result, the 17-year-old female in the front passenger seat of the Kia sustained a fractured leg. In addition, a 16-year-old female in the rear passenger seat of the Kia sustained a fractured hip.
It has not been clarified whether the two drivers were injured in the crash.
Drugs of alcohol were ruled out as a factor in the collision. The crash remains under investigation of the traffic division detectives.
