2 Injured and 1 Arrested after Thurston County Car Accident
THURSTON COUNTY, CA (October 29, 2019) – Two state troopers sustained injuries after a high-speed chase on 5 Freeway.
Authorities arrested a man after a high-speed chase led to three crashes. The incident began around 1:35 p.m. on 5 Freeway northbound at Maytown Road.
According to reports, a motorcycle trooper tried to stop the driver of a silver Cadillac going 110 miles per hour. The driver did stop. However, the driver took off when the trooper came to approach the car. The trooper managed to obtain the license plate and traced the car to his home. Some troopers also came to the house after 2:00 p.m.
Upon their arrival, the driver is still inside his car and escaped again, but the police followed him.
The suspect traveled south on 5 Freeway where the first collision occurred with another vehicle. No one sustained any injury.
The second collision occurred on Old Highway 9 and Old Highway 99. The driver then struck two other vehicles, including a trooper who sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, the last collision happened on Highway 12 and 5 Freeway. The driver then struck another trooper. As a result, responders took the trooper to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia with minor injuries.
However, the driver went on to Highway 12 and Elderberry Street SW where he went out of his vehicle and fought troopers who stopped him.
Authorities arrested him for suspicion of drunk driving and a suspended license and speeding.
