Multiple Vehicles Involved and Injuries Reported on Interstate 80 Accident

Dixon, CA (February 28, 2020) – A major collision between two big rigs and several vehicles halted traffic on Interstate Highway 80 Friday morning.

The California Highway Patrol first reported that a big rig carrying Amazon Prime retail products crashed into the freeway center divider at 10:30 a.m. this morning.

The big rig, travelling westbound, just east of Pedrick Road, drove into the eastbound lanes, hitting another big rig and several other vehicles in the process.

Authorities then arrived to the scene, and promptly shut down the highway in both directions. Because of this, traffic was redirected until 12:30 p.m.

CHP’s initial report revealed a possibility of a fatality; however, more recent statements solely mention moderate injuries sustained by those involved.

The condition of those treated for injuries remains unknown as of this time.

The most recent reports note the crash began when a silver Honda rammed into the Amazon big rig. This caused it to drive through the center divide.

It is important to increase your following speed when driving behind or in front of semi-trucks. To avoid accidents like the crash on I-80, keep a fair distance from drivers around you, and make sure you are not distracted by any tech devices. Moreover, if you are inebriated, use ride share apps or public transportation to get to your destination.
