2 Dead in Strathmore Auto Accident on Avenue 196
STRATHMORE, CA (July 5, 2020) – Saturday morning, two people died in a fiery crash on Avenue 196 near Strathmore.
Spokeswoman Shasta Tollefson said that the crash occurred just after 1:00 a.m. on Avenue 196, west of Road 236. The crash involved a 2015 Honda. When the emergency crews arrived, they found the vehicle that had caught fire with occupants still inside.
The investigation revealed that the Honda traveled west on Avenue 196 at an unknown speed. However, he veered onto the north shoulder of the road until it crashed with a concrete bridge abutment.
Tollefson added that the Honda caught fire and its driver and passenger both succumbed to injuries.
The fatal incident remains under investigation. Moreover, the officials are still uncertain whether alcohol and or/drugs played a role in the crash.
