Injuries Sustained in Yacolt Plane Accident near Jack Mountain
YACOLT, WA (March 31, 2021) – Monday night, two people suffered injuries in a small plane crash near Jack Mountain.
A U.S. Navy helicopter crew started searching for the plane after its pilot called for engine trouble. According to the pilot, they could maintain altitude and were descending through the clouds. Just before 4:00 p.m., air traffic controllers lost touch with the plane as it flew over forestland near Yacolt.
The last radar contact allowed rescue crews to pinpoint where the plane fell.
At about 9:30 p.m., the helicopter crew found the two people and their plane near Jack Mountain. Then, they took them and airlift them to Yacolt Primary School’s parking lot to be checked out.
The pilot and the passenger received treatment for minor injuries. Then, CCSO took them to the West Precinct Office where they were picked up by a family member.
According to reports, the plane came from Bend Oregon, and was bound to the Tacoma Narrows Airport near Gig Harbor, Washington.
Moreover, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office helped in the search.
