2 Hurt in Sacramento Multi-Vehicle Accident
SACRAMENTO, CA (December 14, 2018) – Two people sustained injuries after a major pile-up between eight vehicles on Madison Avenue near 80 Freeway on December 13.
The collision first occurred at the intersection of Madison and Date avenues when the Ford Excursion driver traveling east hit a car that was stopped in the left turn lane, CHP North Sacramento office spokesman Mike Zerfas stated.
“He hit the car so hard that he pushed it over the center median and into oncoming traffic,” Zerfas added. The driver of the Ford then drove east and struck another stopped vehicle in the turn lane.
As a result of the two initial crashes, more collisions occurred in each direction of traffic, namely head-on, thus ending with a “chain-reaction collision scenario,” Zerfas stated.
The crash led two people to be taken to local hospitals after suffering from injuries, one major while the other sustained minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the Ford Excursion male driver was detained on suspicion of DUI. There were no other details provided about the driver.
The crash was reported around 7:00 a.m. and ended with the shut down of westbound lanes for around an hour.
Multi-car crashes can happen anytime, anywhere, and to anyone. One small driving mistake can lead to disastrous results. That is why it is important to drive defensively and always abide by all driving laws. This way, you can ensure your safety and the safety of surrounding vehicles, motorists, and pedestrians.
