2 Hurt in Ridgefield Multi-Vehicle Accident
RIDGEFIELD, WA (January 14, 2019) – Two people sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle accident involving seven cars on 5 Freeway near Milepost 12.
The WSP media release revealed that the units came to respond about 11:45 a.m. 30-year-old Lascarez Santiago was driving south a 2005 Dodge Durango in the middle lane when he wasn’t able to stop for traffic and crashed the rear of a Mazda CX-3.
The Durango then hit a 2017 Ford Explorer before making a left turn and crashing into a Mazda M3HI, pushing the Mazda into a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. The Santa Fe was forced into a 2014 Toyota Prius. The Ford Explorer was also forced into a 2007 Mini Cooper while the Mazda M3HI went off the road and into a cable carrier.
As a result, four of the seven vehicles were totaled. Thankfully, everyone involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts at the moment of impact.
Drugs or alcohol were ruled out as a factor in the collision. Meanwhile, Santiago received citations for negligent driving and driving without insurance.
