Officer Injured After 2-Vehicle Crash on Mason Road in Katy

Katy, TX (December 5, 2024) – A crash on Mason Road early Thursday morning sent a Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy and another driver to the hospital.

Sheriff’s officials reported that both individuals were transported as a precaution and were last listed in fair condition.

The collision happened around 12:10 a.m. at the intersection of Mason Road and Colonial Parkway. 

Authorities stated the deputy was driving westbound on Colonial Parkway, responding to a stabbing call with the patrol vehicle’s lights and sirens activated. 

Meanwhile, the other driver, a woman in her 60s, was heading southbound on Mason Road.

The vehicles collided at the intersection, causing the patrol car to continue westbound until it struck a tree. The second vehicle came to a stop in the intersection.

Investigators are working to determine which driver ran the red light.
