19-year-old Matthew Gibbs Arrested for Suspected Hit-and-Run Crash on State Route 78
San Marcos, CA (March 05, 2022) On Thursday, 2 people were seriously hurt in a hit-and-run collision on 78 Freeway.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) says that the freeway crash happened near Nordahl Road just before 9 p.m.
Authorities arrested 19-year-old Matthew Gibbs of Escondido on Friday on suspicion of felony hit and run and other charges after a rollover crash.
Reports say that Gibbs was on a Honda Civic that suddenly veered left into the Toyota Yaris driven by a 38-year-old Valley Center woman.
Consequently, the impact caused Toyota to veer out of control and overturn.
Rescuers arrived on the scene and found a 38-year-old woman and her 16-year-old female passenger injured.
Gibbs was booked into county jail in Vista on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
