SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA (May 11, 2021) – Monday afternoon, two people sustained injuries in a DUI crash on Valley Center Road near Lilac Road.

According to California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 1:15 p.m. on Valley Center Road, north of Lilac Road.

Reports revealed that a 2008 Ford F-450 truck veered right on Valley Center Road and struck a fire hydrant. Then, the vehicle re-entered the road and struck two trees on the center median. Afterward, it crossed into the northbound lanes where it crashed head-on with a 2018 Lexus ES350.

Furthermore, responders transported the 56-year-old Valley Center man driving the Ford. They also transported the 50-year-old Escondido resident driving the Lexus to a hospital. Both drivers sustained life-threatening injuries.

Also, authorities believe that alcohol played a role in the crash, CHP said.

As a driver, it is your responsibility to be a proactive driver, rather than a reactive one. Moreover, never drive under the influence to ensure you and other motorists’ safety.
