2 Hurt in Renton Car Accident near 108th Avenue
RENTON, WA (March 15, 2019) – Two people sustained injuries when a driver of a stolen vehicle attempted to escape from a police chase and struck another vehicle on March 14.
At 4:00 a.m., a police officer noticed a passenger of a vehicle wearing a ski mask in the 300 block of Rainier Avenue. This prompted the officer to run the license plate, and discover that the vehicle was reported stolen.
The officer then chased the driver until backup eventually followed. They attempted to stop the vehicle around Grady Avenue and Talbot Street, but the driver escaped and police temporarily ended their pursuit.
While the vehicle tried to maneuver a curve, it slammed into another vehicle. Officials arrived to the crash scene on Southeast 172nd Street and 108th Avenue soon after.
The stolen vehicle driver was described as a female in her 20s. She was eventually taken to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries. Meanwhile, the other driver also went to a local hospital for further treatment. Their current status has not been updated.
Officers revealed that the female suspect is infamous to the Renton police. Authorities did not reveal the official charges. Furthermore, they are still searching for the passenger in the ski mask.
