2 Killed in Patterson Single-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway and Diable Grande Parkway

 
PATTERSON, CA (November 3, 2020) – Sunday night, two people died in an accident on 5 Freeway and Diablo Grande Parkway near Patterson.
 
The single-vehicle crash happened around 7:45 p.m. According to reports, a man and a woman in a 1998 Mitsubishi traveled south in 5 Freeway, north of Diable Grande Parkway.
 
However, for unknown reasons, the car veered to the right, left the road, and fell down an embankment.
 
Afterward, the vehicle overturned and ejected both occupants. According to authorities, both of them failed to wear a seat belt during the incident. As a result, both of them succumbed to injuries at the scene.
 
CHP Modesto spokesman Officer Thomas Olsen added that both victims sustained major burns from a grass fire caused by the crash.
 
The accident on 5 Freeway remains under active investigation.
