Fatal Car Crash into piling beneath U.S. 2 Trestle in Everett
Everett, WA (November 7, 2020) – Early Saturday morning, two men died when their car crashed into piling beneath U.S. 2 on the 5800 blocks of 20th Street Southeast below the Hewitt Avenue trestle.
Officers found the vehicle just after 3 a.m. on November 7. They located the car about 90 feet south of the road.
Reports say the victims were a 20-year-old and a 40-year-old, both from Snohomish. Police had not publicly identified the men, pending notification of their families.
Meanwhile, inspectors from the city of Everett found that the piling, which supports a water pipe beneath the trestle, had no significant damage.
Moreover, authorities suspect speed and heavy fog were factors in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
We send our utmost sympathies to the family and loved ones of the deceased victims.
