2 Scooter Riders Injured in Mission Beach Crashes

SAN DIEGO, CA (April 2, 2019) – Two men, both riding motorized scooters, were injured in two separate incidents in Mission Beach over the weekend.

Authorities said the first accident happened Saturday in the 3300 block of Ocean Front Walk, shortly before 10:00 p.m. The second crash occurred early Sunday morning in the 3800 block of Bayside Walk, around 12:30 a.m.

The first collision involved a 39-year-old man who fell off his scooter while abruptly veering right. Officials say he was suffering from life-threatening head injuries due to the impact. He was then taken to an area hospital by medics on scene.

San Diego Police Officer Dino Delimitros said the second incident involved a 62-year-old man who lost control and crashed into a sidewalk. The man consequently suffered a neck fracture and facial abrasions.

Traffic detectives are still currently investigating both accidents. No further information has been released at this time.
