Fatal Tractor-Trailer Accident near 215 Freeway
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (June 13, 2018) – Two people were killed in a truck collision on 10 Freeway, on Wednesday morning. The identities of the two deceased victims were not immediately released to the public.
The fatal crash occurred just before 7:00 AM when the driver of a work truck lost control and struck a railing on the side of the highway. The impact of the collision caused the vehicle to crash into another nearby tractor-trailer.
According to authorities, the work truck went back out of control to the left, striking the railing and flipping over the railing into the riverbed, before bursting into flames. Both the driver and passenger were killed in the crash.
Debris from the vehicle was scattered along the westbound lanes and a piece of wood struck the windshield of a vehicle as the truck went over the railing. The bridge sustained damages so authorities were requested to check its integrity. Heavy traffic on the eastbound side of the freeway was up to Bloomington, caused by several closed lanes of the eastbound 10 Freeway near the 215 Freeway.
No additional information has been disclosed at this time, as authorities continue their investigation.
