2 Dead in Chula Vista Multi-Vehicle Collision on 5 Freeway
CHULA VISTA, CA (February 3, 2020) – Two people died in a multi-vehicle collision on 5 Freeway in Chula Vista on February 1.
According to reports, a driver traveled north on southbound 5 Freeway and caused the collision that also damaged a dozen vehicles.
Authorities received a report of the crash at 4:55 a.m. on 5 Street north of L Street.
The CHP confirmed that the wrong-way vehicle had its lights off. They also added that two people died in the crash while a third person got hospitalized with serious injuries.
According to reports, seven vehicles got involved in the collision while five others sustained damages due to debris.
Authorities shut down the southbound freeway for around two hours during the investigation.
