2 Dead and 1 Injured in Fresno County Crash on Auberry Road

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (January 9, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, two motorcyclists from Clovis died in a multi-vehicle accident on Auberry Road.

The crash occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on Auberry Road.

According to the CHP, the two Clovis male riders traveled south on Auberry Road. Then, as they tried to pass other vehicles, they crossed onto the opposing lane. Eventually, the motorcyclists crashed head-on with an oncoming Subaru SUV.

Afterward, the Subaru driver veered left to try and avoid striking the second motorcyclist. However, the Subaru hit a black pickup truck.

Meanwhile, the second motorcyclist ‘got redirected’ and crashed into the black pickup truck as well.

As a result, the 54-year-old and 24-year-old motorcyclists from Clovis died at the scene. Meanwhile, the SUV driver sustained moderate injuries and required hospitalization. Moreover, the pickup truck driver suffered no injuries.

The CHP, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, and an American Ambulance all responded to the scene.

Meanwhile, the CHP confirmed that both motorcyclists wore helmets. Also, the motorcyclists were technically legal to pass the vehicles because of the dashed line on their side. However, it was a dangerous part of the roadway to pass.

Also, the initial investigation confirmed that the drivers of the pickup truck and the SUV traveled in their appropriate lanes.
