Two Dead after Car Collides with Motorcycle near Hodge Road
BARSTOW, CA (June 27, 2019) – Two people died in a wrong-way Crash on National Trails Highway, late Thursday morning. Authorities withheld the identities of the victims, pending family notification.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Hodge Road, at about 11:25 AM. Due to unknown reasons, an eastbound Nissan Versa crossed a set of double yellow lines and entered the opposite dirt shoulder. Then, the vehicle re-entered the westbound, where it hit a 2002 Kawasaki motorcycle.
The impact of the crash caused the Nissan to overturn once in the dirt shoulder.
Unfortunately, the driver of the Nissan, a 70-year-old Yermo woman, and the motorcycle rider, a 50-year-old Barstow man, died at the scene. Meanwhile, two passengers in the Versa, a 41-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl, suffered major injuries. Emergency responders transported the injured victims to local trauma centers, where their conditions remain unknown.
