Two People Dead in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 80 near Barrett Avenue
RICHMOND, CA (September 29, 2019) – At least two people died in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80, early Sunday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 4:00 AM. Due to unknown reasons, at least four vehicles collided near Barrett Avenue.
A Honda CRV caught fire as a result of the collision, killing one occupant. A passenger in a Nissan Altima was also pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identities of the victims, pending notification of next of kin.
The CHP ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the fatal collision. Investigators will release additional information once it becomes available.
