Early Morning Head-On Crash on Highway 12 in San Joaquin County Kills Two Drivers
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (December 8, 2019) – Two people were killed following a head-on crash early Sunday morning in San Joaquin County.
The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. on eastbound Highway 12 at Guard Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a red Nissan Altima was heading eastbound on the highway. At the same time, a gray Nissan Sentra was heading westbound.
For unknown reasons, the Altima crossed over the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic and collided with Sentra.
As a result, both drivers suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities only identified them as adult males. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
Highway 12 was closed until 8:30 a.m. while officers conducted their investigation.
CHP officials said it does appear that alcohol and/or drugs played a factor in the crash.
