2 Dead in Bakersfield Auto Accident near E Pacheco Road and Cottonwood Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 10, 2024) – Tuesday night, 2 people died in a brutal rollover crash near E Pacheco Road and Cottonwood Road.

Reports said that the incident occurred just after 5:00 p.m. near E Pacheco Road and Cottonwood Road.

Investigators reported that a Dodge pickup carrying two individuals was heading south on Cottonwood Road near East Pacheco Road when the driver attempted to use the dirt shoulder to pass other vehicles. The driver lost control, causing the truck to overturn.

Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle and sustained critical injuries. One was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a local hospital, where they later died. Authorities noted that speed and impairment are likely contributing factors.

The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the identities of the victims later. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 661-327-7111.
