2 Dead in Yuba County Car Crash on Frenchtown Road
YUBA COUNTY, CA (March 2, 2020) – Two unidentified people were killed in a car crash on Frenchtown Road just south of Brownsville, on Friday.
According to reports, the solo-vehicle collision occurred when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road and struck a tree. CHP said they pronounced a 39-year-old woman from Oroville and a 22-year-old woman from Forbestown dead at the scene.
Their identities remain unreleased due to pending family notification.
CHP also revealed that an Oroville woman drove a 1991 Lexus south on Frenchtown Road at a high speed. There, she approached the curve in the road.
Authorities received reports of the collision around 1:20 p.m. on Frenchtown Road, just south of Miracle Way. As the driver attempted to round the curve, she drove into the opposite lane. As a result, the driver over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle. The Lexus then left the road and struck a tree.
California Highway Patrol is still unsure whether alcohol or drug intoxication played a role in the crash.
Our deepest sympathies are extended to the family and friends of the deceased victims during this difficult time.
