Fatalities Reported in Santa Barbara Single-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 and Garden Street

SANTA BARBARA, CA (October 21, 2021) – Wednesday night, two people died in a car accident on Highway 101 and Garden Street.

The single-vehicle crash happened after 6:00 p.m., said fire Battalion Chief Michael Hoose. Moreover, it happened off Highway 101 and Garden Street.

According to reports, the Mercedes went down the offramp. Then, it drove across Garden Street and struck the wall near the freeway onramp.

As a result, a male and a female occupant succumbed to injuries at the scene. At this time, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identities of the deceased due to pending family notification.

Also, the crash caused the vehicle to catch fire. However, the crews managed to put it off immediately.

Meanwhile, the incident shut down the offramp and onramp, along with Garden Street.

Three engines, a truck, and a battalion chief, along with multiple AMR ambulances all came to the scene.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continue to investigate the crash.
