1 Dead, 6 Hurt in San Francisco Multi-Vehicle Crash
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (February 4, 2019) — Two people were killed and six were injured when multiple vehicles were hit by a wrong-way driver on Highway 101 in San Francisco. The crash occurred on Sunday at approximately 2:30 a.m according to the San Francisco Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said that the wrong-way driver struck a van head-on after hitting two vehicles. Both the driver of the van and the wrong-way driver were pronounced dead at the scene. One of the six passengers inside the van was taken to a hospital with major injuries. The injuries of the five others were unknown.
All four vehicles involved in the crash were towed by the CHP and will be used as evidences in the investigation.
The crash prompted the closure of all northbound lanes in the vicinity of the final crash at Alemany. All lanes reopened at about 10 a.m.
