11-Year-Old Boy and Woman Dead after Solo-Vehicle Wreck near Hodge Road
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CA (September 23, 2018) – Two people were killed Sunday evening and five others were injured following a rollover crash on Interstate 15. The identities of the victims were not immediately released, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 9:38 PM near Hodge Road. A white 2002 Toyota Sequoia was traveling south when it veered off the roadway and slammed into a K-rail before overturning.
An 11-year-old boy and a woman inside the Toyota both sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by responding officials. One passenger was airlifted to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with major injuries, while two others were taken to the Barstow Community Hospital with less critical injuries. The Toyota driver, identified as a 44-year-old Los Angeles man, and another passenger sustained moderate injuries but declined hospitalization.
Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible contributing factors in the fatal crash, which remains under investigation. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
